Hi I'm Jacqué,
I'm a painter, storyteller, and the creator of Birdfolk—a growing world of art and objects inspired by curiosity, connection, and what it means to be human.
I'm captivated by the landscapes we all carry within us: emotion, memory, contradiction, longing, joy, and the honest questions that shape a life. Much of my own life has been spent exploring these inner worlds, learning to meet them with curiosity rather than judgment, and discover new ways to greet the day that support my health and wellbeing. My work is an invitation to do the same—translating those experiences into paintings, characters, and everyday objects that encourage us to pause, look a little closer, and perhaps recognize something wonderful about ourselves.
Painting has been both my language and my teacher. Each piece is an attempt to connect more deeply with myself and this beautiful opportunity to be human, allowing intuition, observation, and sensation to guide the process. The goal has never been to make something that I understand, but to create space for reflection, conversation, and discovery.
Birdfolk grew from that same impulse. What began as paintings has expanded into a world where art, storytelling, and objects invite moments of joy. These characters have a way of reflecting our wonderfully imperfect humanity back to us—often bringing a smile, a pause, or the recognition of seeing ourselves in a shape that's pretty lovable after all.
Whether through a painting, a handwritten note, or an honest story, the hope is always the same: to celebrate what makes us human and to leave the world just a little more connected than it was before.
